Simple Stories: Thinking About College...

Happy Friday! Today I have a couple of projects to share using the absolutely fabulous, bright and fun Sn@p collection from Simple Stories. The girls are almost 3 -1/2 and over the past year they have been saying some hilarious things. I try to write everything down as they say it or it at least makes a Facebook status if it's appropriate. ;) One day I was working on something in my kitchen and it was a little too quiet for comfort upstairs. I went to check on the girls and they were each "resting" in their beds and one of them pipes up..."We're just thinking about college..." And, cue my surprised look! I about fell over laughing. It might just be me but I think I would like to attempt preschool before we even consider the heartache of sending them to college! ;)



Sn@p is certainly perfect for those doing Project Life but since that is not something I am doing, I wanted to use the collection to capture a perfectly ordinary moment in our lives but one that I will not soon forget. The photos were not taken in the moment but just ones I had snapped of them getting ready to head to grandma's house for an overnight stay by themselves. They look so grown-up to me with their too-big-for-their-little-bodies backpacks that I chose to highlight them with this particular funny saying.  The 3 x 4 cards have perfect prompts for beginning titles...




I always love to mix and match my alphabet stickers for titles and I love the variety in the Sn@p collection.




And I also love the new phrase stickers found sprinkled throughout the collection...




As always I like to create a quick and easy card when I have my supplies out.

Emma's Paperie: Hello World

Good morning! I have another project to share with you for Emma's Paperie today this time using the Everyday Eclectic collection from Echo Park. The layout is for the month's sketch challenge (the sketch each month is usually for cards but I like to change things up and make a layout). The photo is from the balloon festival this past summer and I actually used a "sunshine" action (in Photoshop) on it from The Pioneer Woman. It's an action I don't typically use but I wanted a different effect on the photo and this was the one that fit best. I love how Nora is standing with her daddy just spreading her arms out wide. She was so thoughtful looking up at the balloons at the festival - just in awe.

And I had to use a wood veneer balloon (!) and I'm also loving the enamel dots from My Mind's Eye. 

The banner is also wood veneer.

Emma's Paperie: Double Baby Shower & Playdate Pals

Happy Monday! It's definitely feeling like fall weather here. Saturday was sooooo chilly that we got out the sleeping bags, lit a fire in the fireplace and had some popcorn and storytime. It was such a simple thing but we all LOVED it!

Today I have some projects to share with you for Emma's Paperie. I'm a little behind in blogging them so I'll share several in this post.

First of all I have a double page layout featuring Crate Paper's "Little Bo Peep" collection. I still had photos to scrapbook from one of my baby showers so I knew that I wanted to use this collection for my project.

The journaling is hidden behind one of the 4 x 6 photos and the rest of the photos were printed to 2 x 3.

The girls had a playdate with some friends at the beginning of September. We were able to hit the splash park one more time before it closed. The colors in this Jenni Bowlin collection matched perfectly so I created this one for the color challenge at Emma's Paperie.

More to come soon....I think we're going to the pumpkin patch this afternoon. We were supposed to go yesterday morning but we woke up to 27 degrees. Um...way too cold for me!

Webster's Pages: Trick or Treat Blog Hop!

Welcome to Webster's Pages Trick or Treat Blog Hop! (You should have came from Larissa's blog but you can always go to Webster's Pages blog and start hopping with us!) Today the design team is featuring projects with the "Once Upon A Halloween" collection. For my project I made a spooky piece of home decor. Take a look...

First I cut a 4.25" square of heavy cardboard and then started layering - patterned paper, vellum, punched borders, mini messages stickers, that sweet cat cameo and jewels. I stitched things in between adhering and added pop dots for some layers.

 I punched a spider web and then placed the purple resin flower in the center. I used a black and white striped straw as the "dowel" and hot glued the layered piece to the top. (The straws were in a package of orange/white and black/white at TJ Maxx.) 

I have a collection of vintage wooden spools and used one as the base that I jazzed up with patterned paper and flower (LOVE the new ones). I hot glued the flower and the straw to the base for a little more stability.

American Crafts: Ready Set Go

Good morning! We have really been enjoying the beautiful fall weather at our house. In the past week we have been to the apple orchard, Living History Farms and even played in the leaves for a little while last night. And we have a trip to the pumpkin patch planned for this weekend! I've been enjoying cooking more soups and stews and baking with apples and pumpkins. Yum! ;)

Today I wanted to share my American Crafts projects using the new Ready Set Go collection. We had our photos taken by {studio m} photography last fall and I'm just getting around to scrapbooking them but I'm happy I waited until I had this collection! I also used tags by Elle's Studio.

I also created a quick and easy card...I am in love with little mister elephant....how cute is he? And I will definitely be using the transparent alphabet stickers in the collection a lot more!

Gossamer Blue: October Reveal

Good morning! I meant to post all of my work with Gossamer Blue's October kit yesterday but I had a sick kiddo so instead you're getting this photo heavy post today! I am in mad love with the beautiful fall colors in this kit and was super inspired to get out with my kids and get some new photos so I can create more with the kit.

Last fall, the girls and I went on a leaf hunt in our yard looking for different colors and shapes of leaves. Then we came instead and did crayon rubbings of them. I used the digital files included in the kit quite literally and just resized and printed the jpg and cut them out.  I don't own a Cameo so this is a way you can still create using the files.

I love the little Smash clips and used them on quite a few projects.

Lately I have been trying to do more layouts that focus on relationships my girls have with special people in their life. This is them with my dad and they just adore their grandpa. I had a mix of colors in the photo so I made it black and white and then pulled out the brown, blue and cream products in the kit.

The arrows were made with a Stampin' Up photo corner punch. 

I layered a bunch of products here - Jillibean Soup flag, Basic Grey file folder, Bella Blvd. patterned paper, Smash clip, and Shabby Chic tag. The triangle was die-cut with a PaperTrey Ink banner die.

This one might just be my favorite for the month because of all the texture. I chose some of my favorite photos from the pumpkin patch last year for this layout. I had just enough white space on the large photo that I could place my title.

The pumpkin border is an EK Success punch. 

I punched some large leaves and then stitched the "veins." 

Also love that Basic Grey Clippings garland...

I was very drawn to the library card paper from Lawn Fawn and came across these photos of the girls and me reading together. I have always been a book worm so it's been fun to share my love of books and the library with the girls. We read together about every day and usually multiple books too. I love catching them "reading" by themselves as well. :)

I love the variety of alphabet stickers included in the kit - so many options!

I also created a couple of quick and easy cards this month....
