GCD Studios Technique:: Creating a Dimensional Embellishment!

I love GCD Studios' new Christmas collections, and I used the "Christmas Sleigh" collection on this two-page layout about my daughters' 1st Christmas (click on it to see larger). Today, I want to show you how to make a dimensional embellishment that would work great for any occasion.

Here's a look at the dimensional heart I created and used as part of my title...

Here's what you need to get started: vintage dictionary pages, a punch (simple shapes work best for this technique), glue dots and ink.

First, punch three or more shapes from the dictionary pages.

Then, ink the edges of the shapes and adhere them together in the center using glue dots. Be sure to ONLY adhere the centers.

Use your sewing machine or hand stitch the shapes to your layout by sewing right through the center.

Fluff your shape by pulling the sides toward the stitched center.

And here's the finished layout again with the dimensional heart in the title...

Until next time,
Jill

  1. I love the heart!! I have a book page in my stash and I haven't been able to figure out what to do with it. Even though I don't have a sewing machine, I might try to adapt your cute idea!
