Stitch Fix Review #4

Hello friends! After not feeling well for the past few weeks, my Stitch Fix #4 box was a bright point in my day today! And I have to give major, major props to my stylist Jen because I feel like she really has my style down by the 4th box (I have had her every time). I truly love almost every piece. I asked for blouses, tanks and dresses for summer and I practically begged for something floral! I also asked for more colors (other than black and navy) and I am very happy with what I received. Jen also visited my style board on Pinterest and made note of that on my sheet. And even better with this box is that the pieces ranged in price from $48-$58 - it was my least inexpensive fix yet!

Here is what I received:

1) Sweet Rain Dalilah Sheer Floral Cluster Blouse - So, YES, this is ME! I absolutely adore floral prints. The shirt is sheer so I have a tank underneath and it's probably more a piece that I will wear towards summer's end into fall. I LOVE it!

2) Skies are Blue Delano Front Pin-Tuck Detail Tank - This one was hard to get a good photo of but I am in LOVE with this royal blue color. I don't have a summery shirt in this color at all. The tank is a high-low style and I actually like it a lot.

3) Peppermint Avery Flutter Sleeve Cinch Waist Top - This is probably my least favorite of the bunch but I do still like it. It is in a peplum style and I like the fluttery sleeves. I paired it with railroad stripe shorts and a gold necklace. The cinch part twists in the middle of the waist. It's a unique top but it could use some polka dots on the fabric or something.



4) Mystree Sheila Beaded Collar Detail Dress - I feel like Jen finally nailed a couple of dresses for me! The tag on this one says red but it seems more of a coral color to me. I LOVE the color and the texture on this one. The beaded collar is really pretty. The price is right and I love the cut on this one.

 

Here is a close-up of the details and I added these pretty ivory earrings I recently picked up at Maurice's. I'm a fan of this dress!

5) Sugarlips Stephany Zig-zag Print Dress - I'm loving this dress too! I have been asking for a chevron print and I really like this dress a lot. It's a little shorter than I normally like but I can still sit comfortably. I did add a belt to this one but if I keep it I will likely find a belt in a bright fun color.

The dress is navy and cream. I'm really liking this one too! 

I am very, very happy this month with my fix! Should I keep the whole box? The only piece I am a little iffy on is the green top but it would still save me money to keep the whole box with the 25% discount. What are your favorite pieces? Isn't Jen a great stylist?! :) 

Also, sometime in the near future I plan to blog about how Stitch Fix has changed the way I now shop for myself. I have added a few new pieces to my wardrobe on my own this summer. I probably will not get another fix this summer but wait until the fall/winter. I'm feeling really happy with my summer wardrobe these days!

Scrapbook Circle: Living History Farms

Good morning! For my two-page layout this month from the Scrapbook Circle June kit, I used the printable a second time (something I definitely love about this exclusive). An annual event for us in the fall is to visit Living History Farms. Our visit last fall focused on the three locations that we had to hike to and I printed a variety of sizes of photos - two 4x6s for the left-hand page and 7 2x3s (wallet size) for the right-hand page).

This time I just cut out the 4-piece block from the printable and left it as is. I machine stitched along the edges and added journaling details and a Scrapbook Circle exclusive flair.

Loving the embellishments this month - the envelopes add a lot of texture and the rub-ons are a fun pop of color.

And as always, I love to mix and match alphabets to make a fun title!

So for the past 7 days, I have been experiencing vertigo and it has been one of the most awful things I have ever had. I recently had a middle ear infection and it moved into my inner ear. I went to the doctor last Friday and tried a few things over the weekend to no relief. I'm going to see an ENT Friday to hopefully get this all figured out. Yesterday I went to see a chiropractor about it and I'm hoping that will help as well. I have not been able to drive or do much at all at home so I am praying and hoping for this to resolve SOON! I would appreciate your prayers that I am soon feeling better!

Scrapbook Circle: The Perfect Pumpkin

Good morning! Today I have another layout to share with you using the June "First Avenue" kit from Scrapbook Circle. The kit has great masculine colors in it but I also thought it was perfect for fall memories I had not yet scrapbooked. One of our favorite fall activities is to go to the pumpkin patch and here are some of the highlights from last fall.

I love the Basic Grey Hipster transparent letters - they make great titles! 

 

I used a Fancy Pants envelope here as well as the Scrapbook Circle exclusive flair and printable. Grids are an easy way to highlight more photos of an event.

Webster's Pages: Father's Day cards

Good Monday morning! I hope you all had a fantastic Father's Day weekend! Today I have a trio of cards to share that I created with several of Webster's Pages new collections.



For the first card, I used Composition & Color and highlighted several great masculine elements in the collection - the planes transparency is a favorite! I also added a little knotted twine for an earthy embellishment.

I also pulled out Citrus Squeeze and cut out the BBQ so I could make a card for my grill-loving Dad! (He makes the best steaks!) 

And I even used Plum Seed (which is very feminine) but I pulled out the burgundy and teal in the collection. I love that card with the sentiment! So sweet! The transparency is from Composition & Color. Easy ways to make cards masculine? Knots instead bows, twine instead of ribbon and stars instead of flowers. 

My weekend did not exactly go as planned. We went swimming last week and I got some water in my ear. My ear was starting to hurt a lot and I thought I might have swimmer's ear but tried to deal with it on my own. I went out to visit my parents Thursday as planned and ended up getting dizzy and sick while I was there. I had a bad case of vertigo. My parents ended up persuading me to go to the doctor while I was there and discovered I had an ear infection but not swimmer's ear. So, I am now on medicine for that. I have very rarely had ear infections in my life and I have to say it has been absolutely miserable. I feel so sorry for kiddos like my nephew who have had frequent ear infections. Owie! I think the worst part was the dizziness though - made me feel really off. I thought maybe I was feeling better on Saturday but yesterday was still hurting. I'm trying a few more natural remedies to help - eucalyptus oil and acupressure points and they have given me some relief. I'm hoping today is a good day as it's supposed to be nice out through Thursday and I want to have some fun with the girls! I was very sad to miss out on a fun day of antique shopping with my sister in Walnut but I'll have to try again next year.

Scrapbook Circle: Time with Grandpa

Good morning! Today I have my first layout to share with you from "First Avenue," the June kit from Scrapbook Circle. The kit was really fun to work with this month! I absolutely LOVED the exclusive printable and used a lot of it on this layout. (The only patterned paper I used was for the punched stars!) On a recent trip to my parents' house, my girls climbed on grandpa's lap for a story (the magical world of Peter Pan).

The grid is entirely from the printable and I jazzed it up with the exclusive flair from the kit and chipboard from Basic Grey.

Emma's Paperie: Blessed.Loved.Grateful

Happy Friday! I'm looking forward to a weekend of relaxing! I think we are heading to the Farmer's Market tomorrow but other than that, we don't have much planned. I can't believe how quickly this summer is going and how our calendar is filling up. And honestly, the weather has been so cool that it feels more springlike than summer. I'm ready to hit the pool! :)

Today I have a couple of projects to share for Emma's Paperie. The first is a layout with a focus on flowers. At last winter's CHA, I absolutely fell in love with Basic Grey's "Mint Julep" collection - the colors and patterns are so me! I created this layout of a photo of my mom, me and the girls for Mother's Day. (And I plan to create plenty more with this collection too!)

Here is a close-up of the flowers - the two on the outsides are brads - they come just like that too! So easy! The middle flower is a burlap one by Maya Road and I just placed a fabric brad in the center. I love the little pre-stitched heart banner too! 

I also used a wood veneer border from Prima. I just love all the little embellishment option Basic Grey has - the flair, the die-cut frame and transparency are all from them!

American Crafts: Gifts for Friends

Well, hello there, friends! Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I have been really busy spending time with my family and working on decluttering around here and my girlies are just plain wearing me out! :) Such is life! This week has been "Gifts for Friends" week on the American Crafts blog and I have a couple of quick and easy canvas gifts to share.

This canvas features mostly the "Lucky Charm" collection. Each canvas is 4x6 and flat. 

I also used the "Yes, Please" collection on this one. The black easels are from Michael's.

Projects that Wow! Blog Hop

If you are new to my blog, here is a little bit about me: I currently design for American Crafts, Simple Stories and Webster's Pages as well as Scrapbook Circle (a monthly kit club) and Emma's Paperie (the BEST online store). I have had my work featured in Creating Keepsakes, Paper Crafts, Crafts 'n things, Scrapbooks Etc., Simple Scrapbooks, Scrapbook Trends, Create Idea Books, CARDS and other magazines and idea books. 

 

This online class will consist of 15 PDF prompts (lessons) and at least 3 videos, and it will run as a ‘live’ class from June 10-28, 2013. All the class material will still be available to participants after the end of class, so don’t worry if you can’t manage it while it’s ‘live’. Class participants will receive an email with a prompt attached every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for three weeks.

The class will feature lots of scrapbook layouts, but also some cards, jewellery and home décor crafts (all involving scrapbook paper/supplies).
