Noel Mignon Challenge: Fall Trends

Good morning, friends! Today I have a layout to share for the next challenge at Noel Mignon. For this challenge we are incorporating fall trends into our layouts. I chose to highlight teal, green, plaid and polka dots in my layout of the girls learning to walk and used the "Sweet Sue" kit while creating.

Here's a close-up of my title and the top where I used a part of the Basic Grey doily ribbon and a Sassafras Lass banner sticker that I cut off. I also sprayed my layout with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Turquoise.

I stitched all my strips of paper together and covered up the number of the Elle's Studio tag with a Sassafras Lass heart sticker. I put Distress Stickles on top of the brad. 

I layered the Sassafras Lass die-cut with a Prima flower and used the "Joy" metal word from Making Memories on top of a label from Elle's Studio.

Noel Mignon Sweet Sue Kit: The Birthday Tree

I've got a new layout today to share with you using the gorgeous "Sweet Sue" kit at Noel Mignon. For the girls' 1st birthday, their grandparents bought them a Norway Maple tree that we planted in our front yard. I wanted to document this on a layout but in the pictures we took, everyone was wearing a different color. I decided to turn my photos black and white and went with earthy shades of green, brown, teal and cream for my layout. 

I pulled out almost every green patterned paper that was included in the kit and decided to make a quilt block collage with them. I love the texture each patterned paper adds. I used one of the Elle's Studio label die-cuts as the base for my title but it said "June" on the top. I used another Elle's Studio label die-cut and some Jenni Bowlin alphabet stickers to cover that up since it didn't go with my layout. 

I used several Elle's Studio label die-cuts for my journaling across the page. 

I adhered a few Sassafras Lass flower stickers and accented one of them with a vintage button in the kit.

And there you have it! I loved working with this kit and can't wait to create more! We're running a few errands today...I've got a few things to pick up at the mall so I hope the girls will cooperate with me! :)

Melissa Frances: Together Forever Wedding Gift Set

Happy Wednesday! The weather has just been beautiful here! I love it! There's definitely a hint of fall in the air. As much as I love fall, it seems like the spring and summer months flew by too fast. I'm not looking forward to winter AT ALL! 

Today, I want to share with you a project I created as a guest designer for Melissa Frances. I made a wall hanging as a wedding gift along with a card to go with it. I found a plain wooden frame set at Michael's and shabbied it up with brown and cream paint, crackle medium and some good old-fashioned elbow grease. The top frame has a monogram of the newlywed's last name, the middle frame is for a wedding photo, and the bottom frame has some fun embellishments. 

Here's a close-up of the top frame...I added some tulle, a chipboard heart, button and pearl to the wire hanger. 

Here's a look at the bottom frame. I used gold Stickles around the inside of all the frames. The Prima flower was sprayed with Glimmer Mist and inked. 

And, here's the card...fairly simple but with some sweet stitching to give it a handmade touch. 

I've been scrapping away...almost all of it are projects I have to wait until September to share BUT today I'm going to start working with the September kit at Noel Mignon and I'll be able to share those right away!!!!

Baby Boy Gift Ensemble: October Afternoon

As I've shared before, my youngest sister is expecting a little boy in October and is going with a farm themed nursery. We had a baby shower for her this weekend so I put together a gift ensemble as part of my gift to her and also used pieces of it as decorations for the shower. The "Farm Fresh" collection was perfect for the ensemble. 

I created a printer's tray using the collection and left spots for photos and birth announcement information. I think I might be addicted to these printer's trays!!!! :)

I recycled a paper mache box to make a keepsake box for him. 

Banners are so popular right now so I made a "baby" banner to put in his room. I picked up the tin bucket piece at Hobby Lobby. 

And then I made a simple card to go along with the ensemble. 

My sister really loved everything so I was happy about that! I really love making handmade gifts for weddings and for new babies. It seems like so few gifts are handmade anymore and I know people appreciate the time and thought that go into handmade creations.

We had a fabulous weekend at my mom and dad's! We had a baby shower for my sister, took the girls swimming, visited with a lot of family, ate a lot of great food and my husband got in some fishing with my dad. The most exciting part of the weekend was Lily started walking!!!!!! :)

Noel Mignon September Kit: Sweet Sue!

Isn't she gorgeous???? The September kit "Sweet Sue" from Noel Mignon is now available to order!!!! I can't wait to play with this kit...just full of new My Mind's Eye, October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin, Melissa Frances and Sassafras Lass! There aren't many left so order now!!!!!

Noel Mignon: First Ice Cream!

Here's a recent layout I created using the Sun-Kissed kit for the crop last week at Noel Mignon. Love the bright, fun colors in this kit. (By the way, the September kit "Sweet Sue" is up for pre-order NOW and ships on the 20th). At the end of May, we took the girls to Snookies Malt Shop to try ice cream for the first time. They LOVED it! :) 

Here's a close-up of my title...I layered a couple My Mind's Eye die-cuts, Cosmo Cricket alphabet stickers, Bazzill rhinestones and an October Afternoon wild card. I also used Martha Stewart glitter and Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist on a Melissa Frances chipboard ice cream cone. An American Crafts brad tops it off. 

For this little embellishment, I layered half of a drink umbrella, an Imaginisce flower and American Crafts flair. 

On another note, I was SO excited about this at TwoPeas that I had to take a screen shot of it because it's the first time it has ever happened to me. That's my "Summer Smoothie" layout in the top 3 most liked and top 3 most bookmarked layouts!!!! :)

My hubby and I are off to the state fair tonight and then we're taking off tomorrow afternoon for my parent's house. Busy weekend ahead! :)

My Mind's Eye: Challenge #14

Today, I've got a new layout to share for the My Mind's Eye Summertime challenge over on their blog. The challenge was to create a summertime layout using a sketch. I dug into my stash of My Mind's Eye products and came up with this "Summer Smoothie" layout of Lily enjoying her first strawberry smoothie. I love the combination of red, turquoise, cream and a little pink.

I used Melissa Frances chipboard sprayed with red Maya Mist for the strawberries, topped off with patterned paper and rhinestones by My Mind's Eye.

Masculine Card Set: Noel Mignon Office Party Kit!

Let's just admit it...most of us probably have a huge stash of scrapbooking supplies. I know I have been "collecting" products for years!!!! :) One of the things I try to challenge myself to do each time I create is to use something - ANYTHING - from my stash.

Another great way to use up your stash and all those scraps laying around is to create cards. I created a set of masculine cards using the new Noel Mignon"Office Party" kit and tried to incorporate just a few items from my stash into the cards.

I always have an arsenal of more feminine cards so I was challenged too to create more masculine cards. Some ways to make a card more masculine are to use these design elements (twine, stars, pinked edges, cardboard or kraft, and the colors red, blue, green, brown, etc.)

For this first card, I made a quilt block using 1-1/2" squares of patterned paper. The ticket die-cut is from the kit. I grabbed a couple buttons, rub-ons and some twine from my stash.

On this card, I used a Martha Stewart starburst punch and cut the starbursts in half to make banners. The twine, rub-on and rhinestones are all from my stash. 

For this card, I used a label sticker, twine and rub-on from my stash. Everything else came from the kit. 

On this card, I used a button, twine and brad from my stash.

GCD Studios Theme:: My Town

For the month of August, the design team was given the theme "Our Town" to work with. I live in a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. I love that we have a small zoo that is the perfect size to bring toddlers as it only takes a couple hours to go through. 

We took our twin daughters to the zoo for the first time this past May and I highlighted our trip with 10 photos on my layout here. I was inspired by a recent layout of my fellow Noel Mignon design team member, Michelle Lanning, to fit so many photos on a layout. 

I created with the Homespun Chic collection on my layout and also used the collage of photos as a sketch of sorts. For my title, I used the Chip Art tool on the Homespun Chic chipboard label and went over it with a combination of brown paint and Mod Podge to bring out the impressions of the letters. I highlighted the chipboard with a white button from the Homespun Chic collection and some brown twine. The yellow alphabet is by American Crafts. I created another paper ruffle as seen in my tutorial earlier this month. I love the added texture this gives to a layout.

Finally, I grouped a few embellishments from the Artsy Urban collection ("family" paper clip and the butterfly sticker) with my larger photo and a chipboard phrase from the Homespun Chic collection.

Midnight Rooster August Kit & Mini Kit Giveaway!

The Midnight Rooster August kit goes live today and it's another FUN one! I just love how Tobi and Janelle put together patterned paper from so many different manufacturers. 

For my first layout, I used family photos shot by our good friend, Justin Meyer. The base of my layout is by My Mind's Eye and from my stash. It's perfect for family photos, right?! All of the patterned paper is from the kit and I used my scalloped circle punch for each circle. I LOVE scrapping with kits but if I didn't try to incorporate some of my stash when scrapping then I would never get through everything I have. I try just to stick to kits nowadays but one thing I do allow myself to purchase is alphabets. I've had the blue Pink Paislee alphabet in my stash for a LONG time and it matched the colors in this kit perfectly so I pulled it out for the title. 

Here's a close-up...I outlined the title with a journaling pen to help it pop off the page.

I did a lot of layering here with Crate Paper patterned paper that I punched, an October Afternoon label sticker, the No. 4 was cut from Jillibean Soup patterned paper, and I punched the butterfly from October Afternoon patterned paper. 

And the rest of my title...

For my next layout, I used hysterical photos of Lily. She loves to put toys in her mouth and crawl around - hey, whatever works, right?! So, we call her our doggy. :) Nora does not do this at all so it's strictly a Lily thing. :) One of the things I love about Midnight Rooster kits is how they seem to coordinate from month to month! I used both the alphabet in this kit and the alphabet in last month's kit on this layout. I cut the October Afternoon label stickers in half and used pieces of them as a fun border. 

The alphabet in this month's kit is plain chipboard so I sprayed mine with yellow Shimmerz. 

I also used a yellow butterfly from last month's kit and the October Afternoon numbers were from a previous kit as well. 

The next layout turned out to be my favorite. I've had the swinging wild card by October Afternoon for a while and these photos of the girls swinging were perfect to go with it. Red Maya Mist was included in this month's kit. Now, I'm not normally a mister but I fell in LOVE with this red mist!!!!! I have never used this particular brand of mist before but it was AMAZING! The coverage was awesome...it didn't warp my paper AT ALL and it dried SO QUICKLY!!!!! I'm definitely going to get myself more Maya Mist!!!!! My background paper is Basic Grey Basics and came from my stash. 

I used the Pink Paislee alphabet again on this layout and the Jenni Bowlin alphabet was in a previous kit. 

Here's the October Afternoon wild card and an October Afternoon label sticker. 

Finally, I've got a card to share with you. This is a great way to use up label stickers! I cut them apart and put them along the edges of my cardstock as a border. I punched out a scalloped circle and a butterfly and layered them with another label sticker. The twine is Martha Stewart. 

So there you have it! Another fun Midnight Rooster kit to play with!
